What is Clean Wholesome Fiction?

All of my fiction falls in the clean/wholesome category. That might be a plus for some and a minus for others.

My stories don’t shy away from hard circumstances—blackmail, theft, unplanned pregnancy, grief. But my goal is to write these stories and include real-life topics without inserting extra sex, violence, or language. I want my stories to be fit for the church library, my mom’s best friend, and my friend’s teen daughter to read.

It’s a balance for sure and I will always need to work on how to present hard topics well. I’m sure I won’t make everyone happy with every book or topic, but I will do my best to honor my values.

I have included some sassy moments and the characters might kiss or there may be romance, but there is no description of private acts and no foul language.

Since I write a series of cozy mysteries, I have to state that there may be violence or death. I don’t think my descriptions went over the line, but obviously, murder is not a clean or wholesome subject. So, there’s that.

I found a blog post with some more ideas for finding clean fiction. Check it out.
